A red onion I drew in my Rendering class. Part of the challenge was to invent a light source and portray the core shadow, reflected light, and diffused shadow accurately.
Ended up using an ink well and pen. It was fun.
Oh, and I made it large-ish so that you could look at it big, if you're into that.
That reminds me, this morning I saw a youtube clip showing some Japanese guy cutting through all sorts of things with a katana, filmed at a super high speed for lovely slooow motion goodness. One of the things was an onion. It looked so elegant.
This is a beautiful sketch! Did you do it without erasing anything?
